Matt was elected to represent Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft in 2014 and has been a Parish Councillor since 2012. During this time, he has taken up hundreds  of individual cases, championing local people and delivering results. Matt has lived locally since the 1990s, when he taught Science at Culcheth High School. He and his wife Holly settled in Culcheth where both his daughters attend primary school. He is often seen around the village with his family, which he considers to be the driving force behind his work for the community.

Joan was first elected to the Council in 2016 and has been a Parish Councillor in Culcheth and Glazebury since 2014. She has been exceptionally in touch with the area she represents, always making the time to speak to people whilst taking up and resolving their concerns. Joan has lived in Culcheth for over 30 years and is married to Colin. Their three children were all educated in the village. Joan is well known in the villages, and she taught Maths for 25 years at a local Sixth Form college. Joan has volunteered with the Guides and Scouts and was a Leader of the Brownie Pack at Culcheth Methodist Church for many years.

Jan is an experienced Borough and Parish Councillor with a strong sense of social justice and fairness. She has a special interest in promoting care of the elderly and mental health. She has been involved with the Warrington disability partnership and volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau. Following training at Winwick Hospital, Jan worked as a nurse for many years and was an active member of NUPE and then the RCN.

Your Councillors at the Town Hall

Your councillors’ experience and abilities are recognised by their colleagues at the Town Hall, where all three were chosen to take on positions of responsibility:

Matt will be chairing the Protecting the Most Vulnerable Policy Committee which considers the Council’s direction on matters such as adult social care, safeguarding and child poverty.

Joan will be Deputy Chair of the Development Management Committee, which determines planning matters and reviews decisions made by officers in the Council’s planning department.

Jan will be Deputy Chair of the newly-formed Health Scrutiny Committee, which has the ability to critically examine decisions relating to health matters in the Borough.

These positions, alongside your Labour team’s record of raising local issues in the Council chamber, make Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft the best-represented ward in Warrington. Whether it is housing, health or schools, the voice of our community is heard on every issue in the Town Hall.
